APCAST 005: Ilija Djokovic

By 05.07.2018October 11th, 2018No Comments

The latest edition to Apcast series, Apgrade’s series of mixes dedicated to the promotion of electronic music features another local music talent in his ascent. DJ & producer Ilija Djokovic prepared the 5th mxi for Apcast series as an introduction to NovaMute Night, when the Brazilian techno force ANNA will be performing in Barutana, along with the music genius and graduated doctor of techno Nicolas Bougaieff in joint collaboration with the Japanese visual artist Itaru Yasud, as well as the founder of NovaMute label, the great Daniel Miller.

To the local and foreign audiences, Djokovic is known for his energetic sets made of “melodic and euphoric techno”. After starting his career in 2010, his music quickly arrived to clubs and festivals outside his home techno scene. Ilija says that the milestone was a release for Phobiq, as well as the successful cooperation with Terminal M, the publishing house of Monica Cruz. He was then supported by some of the most prominent names of electronic music such as Adam Beyer, John Digweed, Pan-Pot, Hernan Cattaneo and others. His song “Venom” was released on Tronic Music, while Enigma EP was released last year for the Dutch house Filth On Acid.

Undoubtedly one of the most prolific techno producers from Serbia, Djokovic recently also debuted in the famous London club EGG, while during the summer he is expected to perform at festivals around the country, as well as at the Labyrinth Open festival in Croatia and Echo Waves in Georgia. During his eight-year career, he shared a decks with some of the greatest stars of the electronic scene, such as Paul Kalkbrenner, Nina Kraviz, Solomun, Dixon, Loco Dice and many others. This August will add three other great names to this list.

On the eve of his debut party for Apgrade, Djokovic says that, as a fan of ANNA’s productions and sets, as well as NovaMute, he is especially glad to be part of this evening. “It is important that the “opening” DJ knows the music of the main stars that will appear next to him. To stay neutral during the set, but not boring. A good balance plays a role of great importance. I expect the audience to come earlier and hear what I have prepared!”, said Ilija.

Although Djokovic keeps his secret of a good intro set for August 24th, through a special selection for Apcast 005 he gives us a hint of the atmosphere we are eagerly anticipating at NovaMute Night. Until our meeting in Barutana on August 24th, take a peak at the new Apcast!
