Electro Wiz Tiga to Announce Apgrade Summer Season and Open Barutana on May 4

By 26.03.2018February 12th, 2019No Comments

One of the most fascinating personalities of the world electronic music scene and a famous DJ and producer from Montreal, Tiga is opening Belgrade’s most representative open-air venue, Barutana on May 4, and announcing Apgrade summer season.

Clubbing guru who manages to stay relevant all these years is coming to the first Apgrade this year, after a 5 year hiatus of Belgrade performances, and 16 years since he has performed for the first time in this very same venue! Tiga James Sontag has secured the status of one of the most valued world DJs with his broad and knowledgeable approach to music. Last year he used social media to open up about the fact that there are nights when even the best DJs are unable to show their full potential. His honesty has been praised by more than 40.000 of his fans and colleagues, to name some – Eric Prydz, Charlotte de Witte, Derrick May, The Black Madonna, Disclosure, DJ Tennis, Eats Everything and many more. The case of unprecedented support of the whole scene to Tiga gained huge media attention and BBC even noted that “everyone likes Tiga’s sincerity.”

Tiga will be welcomed in Belgrade by our most prominent representative on the global scene – Tijana T, while the intro to the night of musical wonders under the starry sky of Barutana will make a young talent from Novi Sad – Layzie.

A limited number of early bird tickets at a price of 790 RSD for General Admission and 1290 RSD for the VIP Terrace is in sales from today on all box offices in Serbia and the region, as well as on Gigstix.com and Eventim.rs.

Once you combine someone whose musical heroes are Prince and David Bowie, who’s been in the music industry for a quarter of a century, and still collaborates only with his friends, who’s produced several anthems of electronic music, and brings with his attitude, energy and style brings all the attention to himself wherever he goes – you’ve got Tiga. The eternal megahit “Sunglasses at Night” has brought the Montreal DJ worldwide fame, and he’s coming to Belgrade after his third album “No Fantasy Required” with its leading single “Plush”. His last year was marked, alongside the tight schedule of his world tour, by hypnotizing track “Woke”, remixed by Jamie Jones, and regular appearances in Ibiza and on festival stages where he and Kolsch do back-2-back sets. A few weeks ago, a new massive single with a catchy name “Stay Cool” was released and it already conquered Miami Music Week where Tiga had four performances!

The career of charismatic Tiga, known for his lucid philosophical views on the world of DJing, music, and showbiz, has started in the early ‘90s after he had come back to Montreal from the Indian clubbing Mecca, Goa, where he as a teenager lived with his hippie parents. Carried by the spirit of the ‘80s, he wanted to bring something new to Montreal and soon enough, he made it happen. He and his friends organized a series of parties which they promoted on the streets of the city and slowly started gathering aficionados of electronic music who, like a cult, started following his work and made a solid base for the commencement of the electronic scene in the city. In 1994, Tiga buys “DNA Records”, a club where legendary SONA was made, and in 1998 starts “Turbo Recordings”, still one of the most influential labels in electronic music, which on its roster has Chromeo, Brodinski, Azari & III, Zombie Nation, and many others. He produced hits like “Pleasure From the Bass”, “You Gonna Want Me”, “Hot In Herre”, “Ocean Drive”, “Louder Than a Bomb”. Also he is one of not so many producers of electronic music which is regularly covered in magazines such are “Rolling Stone”, “Pitchfork”, and “NME”. His remixes for Depeche Mode, LCD Soundsystem, The XX, Scissor Sisters, Justice, and Moby, to name a few, are a safe trick to turn any set into a victory. Without any doubt, Tiga is coming back with the intention to triumph over Belgrade clubbers and keep everyone Barutana on their feet until the morning sun, a breath-taking scene local clubbers know very well.
