Dave Harrington with his band on June the 3rd in Belgrade for the new Apgrade Live!

Dave Harrington, New York-based multi-instrumentalist, jazz guitarist, composer and half of the famous tandem Darkside, returns to Belgrade on Friday, June the 3rd, for the new Apgrade Live event. After the striking concert in 2013, at Kalemegdan fortress as Darkside, and last year’s sold-out performance of Nicolas Jaar, the publishing house from Brooklyn,Other People” returns to Belgrade to promote his new pearl, the “Become Alive” album, which is signed by Harrington as its author, and where he collaborated with Jaar and numerous “other people”. Among them is Valentin Stip, who is back this time in Belgrade to support Harrington and his four-member group. Join them and our internationally acclaimed producer Nenad Marković who is known to the public under the numerical pseudonym of 33.10.3402. A limited number of the early bird tickets is sold at the box offices of Eventim and Gigstix, at the first price of 990 dinars, and the following ticket prices will be higher.

The interesting thing is that Belgrade, along with Paris, London, Copenhagen and Amsterdam will be among the first cities in the world where Dave Harrington and “Other People” will preform live the new album “Become Alive”, released in April this year. Rarely can you find the releases that have been simultaneously covered by various influential music magazines such as “Pitchfork”, “Resident Advisor”, “Consequence of Sound” or even “Wall Street Journal” (!), and the reviewers have characterized the release as the return of primal jazz musician and an author who matured as a guitarist true to his roots with an impeccable pedigree of New York’s famous jazz improvisation scene. This album was created by the Apostolic Twelve, Harrington and his closest associates and friends, including Nicolas Jaar, while on tour Dave Harrington’s group travels as a quartet. It is expected that these performances will bring some new interpretations of the songs “Things Behind the Sun” and “Form and Affect” that preceded this album, and many aspire to find citations in improvisational and distinctive guitar parts from Harrington’s Darkside writings, which we got the chance to hear at Kalemegdan three years ago.

The second season of Apgrade events will be initiated on the 27th of May in Belgrade’s Barutana by the leader of the German techno scene Chris Liebing. This year, Apgrade will host some of the leading electronic artists, like it did last year with Richie Hawtin, Nicolas Jaar, Loco Dice, Mathew Jonson, Function, Efdemin, Valentin Stip, Mike Huckaby, Julian Jeweil, Sebastian Mullaert, Fabio Florido, Caleb Calloway and others. The Apgrade weekend of 2016 will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of September in Belgrade and the first headliners will soon be announced.
