Since its first edition, the three days long Apgrade Weekend in Belgrade was imagined as a culmination of the summer season and major open-air events in the region, and its line-up has always been led by the absolute leaders of the world electronic music scene. This year also, in the spirit of its name and motto (The Only Way is Up), we are setting the bar higher, and bringing to the Kalemegdan fortress living legends and undisputed leaders of the global electronic music movement – Laurent Garnier and Sven Väth! The name of another headliner, who will join the likes of Garnier and Väth in the well-known trench behind the Military Museum on Kalemegdan fortress, September 6-8, will be announced a bit later.
The killer line-up, who will be playing alongside the two forefathers of the scene, is already known – the wiz from New York – Anthony Parasole, Berlin techno boy band FJAAK, Jennifer Cardini, a Parisian expat in Berlin, Maurizio Schmitz – Cocoon label’s secret weapon, Serbia’s ambassador in the world scene in unstoppable rise – Tijana T, long-awaited “live” genius Tim Green, extremely talented Vaal, and the local heroes Doo, Vitanov and Nenad Marković a.k.a. 33.10.3402.
It would be hard to imagine the rise of electronic music and the ever-growing global electronic movement without the living DJ legends Sven Väth and Laurent Garnier in the middle of it. They have influenced, shaped and led many generations by their own example, having performed on the biggest events in the history of modern music.
The first beats of classics like “The Man with the Red Face” or “Accident in Paradise” get the biggest gatherings from Argentina to Japan to the boiling point, and the precision in mixing and marathon sets are still a mystery to those that look up to them and follow the paths Sven and Laurent have paved decades ago. They keep on elevating the club culture to the level of top contemporary art, whose history Laurent described through the cult book “Eletrochoc”; and Sven has been shaping the core of clubbing with his Cocoon parties in Ibiza for almost two decades.
Tickets available box offices around Serbia and the region, as well as websites Gigstix.com and Eventim.rs.
