TJ Hertz, AKA Objekt, rose up to earn the reputation as one the most thrilling cutting-edge techno DJs in the game. He’s a musical polymath producing singles and albums which regularly top the annual lists of the most relevant music press – their density and technique pleases the most dedicated, hard to impress listeners, while their dynamic, exciting side finds its way to peak-time slots at key festivals like Unsound, Atonal, Primavera & Dekmantel. His earliest efforts as Objekt riffed on dubstep tropes while referencing classic rave and IDM sounds, and his sound palette has only expanded from there.
Before building a reputation as one of the best DJs of his generation and receiving the title of Mixmag’s DJ of the year, he became known for his impressive production that quickly gained support from big names like Aphex Twin and Autechre. Whether you’re listening to his Essential Mix from 2020, the legendary recording of an eight-hour set at the New York club Nowadays, or his mix CD for Berlin’s Tresor, which Resident Advisor described as a “window into the essence of DJing,” the conclusion is always the same: Objekt’s DJ set is uncompromisingly innovative, meticulously detailed, obsessively well-executed, but above all, ecstatically entertaining.
Objekt will perform as part of a new series of limited-capacity club events produced by Apgrade. Local underground selector Stevie Whisper and Tadi from the Bijat collective will be joining him behind the decks at Belgrade’s newly opened dance music hub – Karmakoma.
