Mathew Jonson warms up for the first Apgrade weekend in Barutana on August 21th

The legendary techno producer and composer Mathew Jonson will perform live on Friday, August 21th in Belgrade Barutana, below the ramparts of the Belgrade fortress. Popular Canadian is coming to Belgrade within the warm up party for the upcoming Apgrade Weekend at Kalemegdan on the September 4th and 5th on which perform the leaders of the world electronic scene, Richie Hawtin, French producer Julian Jeweil, Italian rising star Fabio Florido, and residents of the Berlin club Berghain, Efdemin, Function and Boris. Local support for Mathew Jonson on August 21th will be given by experienced domestic bards Marko Nastic and Vlada Janjic, and the tickets for this warm up party, called “Prepare to Apgrade”, are already on sale at promo price of 590 dinars. The number of tickets is limited, and the price at the door will be higher.

The founder of the cult label Wagon Repair, Mathew Jonson, lives and works between a native of Vancouver, home of the parent record label and his band Cobblestone Jazz, and Berlin, where his famous studio, unique for its unusual combination of rare analogue synths and modern production equipment. A great talent, Jonson was the author of some of the most influential electronic music – Wagon Repair classics “Marrionette”, “Typerope” or “Symphony for the Apocalypse” and the Ricci edition of the famous Minus label, such as “Decompression” and “Learning to Fly” which all belong to the essential issues of the 21st century techno.

“I am very happy to be surrounded by talented, good musicians,” says Jonson, that is the key to success, and adds: “Music is a very personal thing. Having your own platform and being able to spread the music, and to keep all the people together, provides great strength. Everyone is stronger as a part of a group, something larger than ourselves.” It is interesting that the night after the Belgrade party Mathew Jonson plays at the world-famous club Berghain in Berlin, whose residents are coming on the first Apgrade Weekend.

The leader of the global electronic scene Richie Hawtin will perform at Kalemegdan within the first ▲ (Apgrade) weekend, which will be held on 4th and 5th of September in a trench under the Military Museum of Belgrade, and together with him, on the first night there, Julian Jeweil and Fabio Florido are performing under the Minus label. On the first Belgrade Apgrade, on the other night of the event, on Saturday, September 5th, as part of the Ostgut Ton label evening, come the residents of the most famous world club Berghain, Efdemin, Function and Boris. Tickets are sold at the box office of Eventim and Gigstix, at a promo price of 1,590 dinars for two nights, a contingent is limited.
